Scoring
We score finished games with Chinese rules — the simplest and most common method. There is no need to remove dead stones from the board by hand first.
Step 1 · Mark the dead stones
When the game ends, each player identifies which of the opponent's stones are dead — completely surrounded with no chance to live. Tap a group to mark it dead; tap again if you change your mind.
Step 2 · Count territory plus stones
Dead stones are lifted from the board, then each side counts:
- Its own living stones still on the board.
- The empty space it surrounds. An empty region touching only your colour counts fully for you; empty regions touching both colours (dame) count for nobody.
Step 3 · Add komi
White adds 7.5 komi to its total. Black has the first move but no compensation; the 7.5 makes up for that. Because the komi is a half number, the final difference is never zero — the game can never be a draw.
Example: Black has 40 stones and 30 points of territory (70). White has 38 stones and 22 points of territory, plus 7.5 komi (67.5). Black wins by 2.5 points.
Play it out
Both players pass to end the game, mark the dead stones in the score panel, and confirm. The final count and the winner appear on the result screen — with your full move list available to review.
